Ortus Recruitment is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Tulse Hill that is seeking a dedicated Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This full-time, term-time role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience while making a meaningful difference to pupils with additional learning needs.

The Role

As a Graduate Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, Speech & Language needs, and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH).
  • Help pupils access the curriculum by adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and social development.
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for every child.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Psychology, Education, Child Development, English, Maths, or a related subject (desirable but not essential).
  • Experience working with children or young people through schools, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, sports coaching, or childcare.
  • An interest in supporting children with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, positive, and proactive attitude.
  • The ability to build strong relationships and work effectively within a school team.
