Ortus Recruitment is excited to announce the chance for a resilient and proactive individual to take on the fulfilling role of SEN Teaching Assistant in a mainstream Primary school in the London Borough of Barnet – a vibrant area filled with a plethora of shops, cafes, parks and transport links.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the learning and development of children by confidently leading maths and literacy interventions in small groups and working on a 1:1 basis with children who have additional needs to help improve attainment levels.
SEN Teaching Assistant responsibilities:
- Have a nurturing and empathetic approach to teaching
- Leading 1:1 and small group interventions i.e. phonics, numeracy and literacy
- Encourage participation from SEN pupils and support them where necessary
- Strong communication skills to liaise with parents and assist class teacher effectively
- Engage students confidently with the KS1 curriculum and help them raise attainment
Main Expectations:
- 6+ months experience supporting children with SEN (desirable)
- Have a level 3 qualification, e.g. CACHE level 3 or a degree in a relevant subject e.g. psychology or education (desirable)
- Strong numeracy/literacy capabilities
- Must be able to provide: an enhanced DBS (or willing to apply for one through Ortus Recruitment), proof of Right to Work in the UK and 2 references
