SEMH Behaviour Mentor

Ortus recruitment are currently seeking for an experienced Behaviour Mentor, to provide 1:1 support to a student with SEMH needs. The Pupil Referral Unit based in Tooting wants a candidate who has experience with SEMH and candidate that can be a strong supporting role model. This role is a full-time vacancy, Monday to Friday (08:30am-16:00pm).

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Monitoring, recording and reviewing the progress of individual student and to share information with relevant staff and parents/carers
  • Providing information, advice and guidance to specific students and their parents/carers
  • Planning and delivering intervention programs to a small cohort of students to develop their social and emotional skills – tracking and evidencing progress
  • Planning and delivering elements of supportive interventions
  • Working with other Inclusion colleagues to provide ‘out of the classroom learning experiences
  • Facilitate, where appropriate, extra-curricular activities to engage and motivate students
  • To support the inclusive ethos of the school

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a core subject (Maths, English, Science, Psychology, Drama)
  • Experience working with children/young people in a professional environment
  • Experience working with SEMH(desirable)
  • Able to develop positive relationships
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Able to stay calm and objective when presented with unusual or challenging behaviour
