Teaching Assistant

Ortus Recruitment is currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual to join our partner Primary School in Southfields as a Teaching Assistant. The school has an Ofsted rating of ‘Good’ and boasts excellent facilities and a dedicated leadership team.

As the ideal candidate, you are reliable, motivated, and proactive with previous experience working with children. In this role, you will be working in small groups and one-on-one with pupils who may need additional support, as well as assisting the teacher with lesson planning. You should have a friendly and welcoming demeanour, with the ability to communicate effectively with both teachers and students.

This is a full-time and long-term position, starting immediately after half-term for the right candidate.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, e.g. youth work, mentoring, tutoring, childcare, or volunteering
  • Relevant qualifications for working with children or young people, e.g. degrees in Maths, English, Sciences, Psychology, Education, Drama, or Performing Arts
  • A friendly, confident, outgoing and reliable attitude
  • A genuine interest and passion for supporting young, vulnerable pupils
  • Previous experience working with SEN or challenging behaviour is an advantage
