1:1 KS2 Teaching Assistant
Ortus Recruitment has a fantastic opportunity to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to join our highly collaborative and supportive mainstream primary school based in Wandsworth as soon as possible. Teaching Assistants are pivotal to success in the classroom and provide a great deal of support for teachers, therefore the successful candidate will be able to establish strong working relationships with staff and students alike.
Key responsibilities:
Working on a 1:1 basis with specific pupil(s) daily and to provide wider support to the Class Teacher in the teaching and welfare of children to attain the targets set within the National Curriculum or Individual Education Plans.
Please note: Previous experience working in Key Stage 2, Makaton and specifically with pupils with ASD and Down’s syndrome is highly desirable.
We are seeking a candidate who;
- is dedicated to the job and prioritises the needs of the children in their care.
- has experience of working with primary aged children and preferably experience of working with children who have special educational needs
- is resilient and solution-focused
The successful candidate/s will need to have relevant experience and/or qualifications in working with primary-aged children. We are also looking for proven high standards of both spoken and written English and Mathematics. Being able to communicate effectively with children and adults is essential, together with a friendly and approachable manner. The newly appointed Teaching Assistants will be able to work using their own initiative and can demonstrate effective behaviour management skills. In return, they will join a supportive environment with plenty of development opportunities and could go permanent with the school if you impress the Class Teacher and Senior Leadership Team.
This role offers an pay rate between £80 – £90 per day PAYE (Monday to Friday 08:30-16:00), Term Time. The role will be centred around supporting children’s learning and development in all aspects of school life, not only in class but during social times too. This will mean that implementing lunchtime and break time routines and activities will be an expected part of the role.
