SEN Teaching Assistant – Sutton
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a primary school located in the Sutton Borough of London. The successful candidate will work closely with our SEN Coordinator and teaching staff to provide support for pupils with special educational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Support the learning of pupils with special educational needs, including those with physical, emotional, or behavioural difficulties
- Assist in the planning and delivery of individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies for pupils with SEN
- Work closely with teachers to provide in-class support and ensure that pupils are fully included in all aspects of school life
- Monitor and record the progress of pupils with SEN and provide regular feedback to teachers and parents
- Provide support for pupils with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and medication administration if required
- Attend training and professional development sessions as required to maintain and enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements:
- Experience of working with children with SEN in a primary school setting
- Good understanding of the national curriculum and how it can be adapted to support pupils with SEN
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to support the needs of pupils
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
- A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to work, with the ability to use initiative and work independently
- Enhanced DBS disclosure or willingness to obtain one
