Ortus recruitment are looking for a highly experienced teaching assistant who is enthusiastic about joining a hard working team, helping children in their education. The individual applying for this role needs to have the ability to work in larger and smaller groups with people, seen as they will be supporting children within a classroom, and also working with smaller groups of children outside the classroom.

The school promotes hands on learning, which means children learn through physical activities, which keeps them engaged throughout the day, giving them a higher chance of progressing in their studies.

You role will include :

• Helping teachers plan lessons – handing out workbooks and equipment, contributing creative ideas and keep record of the progression the students are making.
• Supporting children within a classroom and also at break and lunch
• Supporting children who need extra support complete activities
• Listening to children read, reading to them and helping them with their spelling.

• Flexible and open to change
• Sensitivity towards the children’s emotional, social and physical needs.
• Excellent communication skills
• Good level of numeracy and literacy skills
• Ability to be patient and stay calm in stressful situations.
