ORTUS RECRUITMENT are working with an Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ Primary School located in the lovely area of Borough. The school are seeking an unqualified Teaching Assistant to work within a Year 5 class alongside a wonderful supportive staff team.

The ideal candidate doesn’t need experience in a school setting but experience working alongside children or vulnerable adults/young people in a care or social setting is desirable. The candidate will need to have a calm and patient approach to work with a natural passion for working with children. A bubbly and confident person with the ability to build a positive rapport with children and staff members is essential for this position.

Main responsibilities:

• Work alongside the class teacher and other support staff to help prepare and set out activities and tasks for the pupils
• Working 1:1 and in small groups when necessary to help develop the pupils social and academic skills
• Supervise the pupils in the lunch hall and the playground helping to maintain calm behaviour
• Helping the class teacher mark work and sign reading diaries
• Assisting the teacher with dismissing pupils at the end of the day and feeding back about their day to their parents/carers

Requirements:

• A clear and enhanced DBS on the update service
• A strong academic background, minimum 2:2 in relevant qualifications or transferrable skills/experience
• Must be available full time, 5 days a week, 08:30 – 16:00
• Must live local to Borough or be able to comfortable commute
