ORTUS RECRUITMENT are seeking an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to join one of our schools located in Bellingham. The primary school needs a candidate to join their wonderful EYFS team after the easter holiday on a full time, long term basis, working 1:1 with an ASD pupil.

The role:

• Position: 1:1 ASD Learning Support Assistant
• Pay: £80 – £100 per day, £400 – £500 per week, PAYE
• Location: Bellingham, Lewisham
• Role: Full time, Long term. (Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:00)

The ideal candidate will have experience working alongside SEN pupils in a school or social setting, this could be sports coaching, caring or nannying. The ideal candidate will be eager and enthusiastic to get started and will be looking to make an instant impact in this pupils life. A kind and patient nature is required when working in this role, and the ideal candidate will be comfortable and confident in building a rapport with the pupils and the staff team.

Within this role, you will be required to work closely alongside a non-verbal ASD pupil. You will need to use hand signs (Makaton or Sign Language experience desired but not essential) and visual aids (Flash cards) in order to communicate instructions to the pupil. You will be required to work with the class teacher to prepare differentiated work and activities suited to the learners needs.
