ORTUS RECRUITMENT are seeking an unqualified Behaviour Support Worker to support a year 6 pupil with challenging behaviour in a mainstream primary school located in Southwark, Peckham.

This Primary School in particular boasts their positive working environment and positive rapports amongst staff members. The school is Ofsted rated ‘Good’ and have managed to maintain that rating across a number of years. The school is a modern building, with a lift and also 2 separate playgrounds. The Senior Leadership Team are eager and enthusiastic to appoint a new member of staff and work alongside them to ensure they feel comfortable in this new role.

The ideal candidate will have experience working alongside children and/or adults/young people in a care, school or social setting. The ideal candidate will also have experience with managing challenging behaviour and working alongside people with special educational needs. A strong academic background is desired, educated to a degree level or equivalent is desirable but not essential.

The main responsibilities within this role are to work 1:1 with a year 6 pupil with challenging behaviour. This consists of supporting them in lessons and encouraging a positive attitude to learning. You will be required to supervise the pupil on movement breaks during lessons when they are distracting others as well as attempting to get them to engage in learning.

You will work alongside the Senior Leadership Team, the Class Teacher, Therapists and the pupils Parents/Carers to ensure that they are getting the necessary support as well as feeding back about the pupils progress at the end of the day.
