Here at Ortus Recruitment we are seeking an Experienced Teaching Assistant to join one of our vibrant primary schools located in the heart of Lewisham. The school is Oftsed rated ‘Outstanding’ and are seeking someone to start immediately. The school has amazing transport links as well as a car park. It is located close to a popular train station as well as having bus links. Lunch is provided for free, but the school is located in close proximity to a number of food places.

The job role:

• Position: Teaching Assistant
• Pay: £80 – £90 per day, PAYE – No hidden Agency/Umbrella Company Fees
• Location: Lewisham, Bellingham
• Role: Full time, Long term (Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:00)

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience working with children in a care, residential, school (ideal) or social setting (children’s entertainer, nanny, sports coach).
• Be passionate about working alongside children and dedicated to helping them develop academically, emotionally and socially.
• Have a natural kind and nurturing nature
• Be patient and resilient
• Be confident enough to lead 1:1 and small group interventions to raise academic attainment levels in core subjects
• Will have a strong academic background, educated to degree level or equivalent (desired, not essential).

 The main responsibilities within this role:

• You will be required to assist the Class Teacher in supporting the class with their work
• You will be required to supervise the learners in and around the school building, including the lunch hall and playground
• You will be required to undertake administrative duties such as marking work, signing reading diaries and photocopying/laminating worksheets
• You will be required to lead 1:1 and small group interventions for pupils who require additional support in core subjects
• You will be required to liaise with the class teacher and the parents/carers to provide feedback and pupil progress
• You will be required to assist the teacher in preparing differentiated work that suits the individual learners needs.
