Here at Ortus Recruitment we are seeking someone to one of our Pupil Referral Unit’s located in the heart of Lewisham. A Pupil Referral Unit is a provision in which children who aren’t able to work to the best of their ability in a mainstream school due to their challenging behaviour or special educational needs, attend to get a differentiated type of support. Pupils within this school are working off of adapted curriculums which include enrichment, sensory and therapeutic activities, these include swimming, games room and indoor jungle gyms.

Within this role the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting a pupil in year 4, with challenging behaviour. You will be tasked with helping this pupil engage with learning and maintaining concentration in lessons. You will be able to take the learner on movement breaks whenever necessary to prevent disruption is lessons. You will use enrichment and other activities to promote good behaviour within the classroom and around the school building.

The Job Role:

• Position: Behaviour Mentor
• Pay: £90 – £100 per day (£450 – £500 p/w), PAYE – No hidden agency/umbrella company fees
• Location: Hither Green
• Role: Full time, Long term

The Ideal Candidate:

• Will have experience managing challenging behaviour either in a care, residential, school or social setting
• Will be patient and resilient as this role can be quite challenging
• Will be able to follow instructions from the Class Teacher as well as being able to work off of your own initiative
• Will be able to build a positive rapport with both pupils and staff members
• Will be able to commit to Full time, Long term work with an immediate start
• Will have two obtainable childcare based references
• Will have an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment – £52
