Job Summary: As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of students with special educational needs in a primary school setting. Working closely with the class teacher and SEN Coordinator, you will provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SEN Coordinator to implement individualized learning plans for students with SEN, ensuring their specific needs are met.
- Provide support and assistance to students with SEN during classroom activities, ensuring their inclusion and participation.
- Help students develop their social skills, self-confidence, and independence, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Adapt and modify teaching materials and resources to suit the individual learning needs and abilities of students with SEN.
- Provide personalized support to students during examinations, assessments, and other learning activities.
- Monitor and record the progress and development of students with SEN, maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Collaborate effectively with parents/carers, sharing information and progress updates, and involving them in the learning process.
- Assist with the implementation of behaviour management strategies, promoting positive behaviour and ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Attend relevant training sessions and professional development activities to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of SEN support.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably within a primary school setting.
- A genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to promoting their well-being and development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience to support students who may face challenges in their learning journey.
- Knowledge of different SEN conditions, learning strategies, and classroom support techniques.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and respond to various situations effectively.
- An understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures within an educational setting.
- Relevant qualifications and certifications in special educational needs support or related fields are desirable.
Working Hours: 8:30-4:00 Monday to Friday
Salary: £80-£90 per day PAYE
