Here at Ortus Recruitment we are seeking a candidate with a sporting background either via qualifications or experience to join one of our amazing Mainstream Primary Schools as a PE Teaching Assistant. The school is Ofsted rated ‘Good’ and it is a school where they taking sports competitions seriously, they are entered into a number of different sporting competitions and tournaments. Onsite they have a large playground, with a small 5 aside football pitch and an indoor court to play basketball, badminton etc.

The Job Information:

• Position: PE Teaching Assistant
• Pay: £85 – £100 per day, PAYE – No hidden agency/umbrella company fees
• Location: Lewisham, Deptford
• Role: Full time, Long term (Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:00)

The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who has a sporty background and is able to adapt their transferrable skills into a school based setting. We are seeking someone who is energetic, enthusiastic and bubbly. The ideal candidate MUST have experience working alongside children in a care, residential, school or social (coaching) setting. The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about working alongside children, dedicated to helping them develop both academically and behaviourally, as well as being patient and resilient.

Within this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with the PE Teacher and supporting PE lessons across the whole school, from EYFS – Year 6. You will be required to pick up the pupils from their class, escort them through the corridor to either outside or the sports hall. You may be tasked with setting up equipment for the lesson, following the PE Teachers lesson plan and ensuring it is effective and you have the necessary equipment. You will be required to supervise the pupils and ensure their safety and wellbeing at all times. You will be required to adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies. You will be asked to undertake administrative duties, such as assisting the PE Teacher in assessing the pupils and evaluating the level they’re working at. You will need to provide feedback about the pupils participation and behaviour in the PE lesson to both their Class Teacher and the parents/carers.
