The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has experience managing challenging behaviour within a care, residential, school or social setting. The school is Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ and they pride themselves on the staff wellbeing and the extremely positive working environment amongst staff. The school have an inclusive and diverse working environment, the Class Teachers make an extra effort to differentiate work for learners who need additional support.
The ideal candidate for this position will be someone who is able to start immediately, and commit to full time, long term work (Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:00). We need someone who has experience managing behaviour in (ideally) a classroom setting, but other experiences are welcome. The successful candidate will need to have be passionate about working with children, and dedicated in aiding their development academically, behaviourally, socially and emotionally. We require someone who has basic knowledge of the British school curriculum and is educated to a degree level or equivalent, and have qualifications in core subjects (English, Math, Reading, Science).
The successful candidate MUST have TWO obtainable childcare relevant references
The successful candidate will need to have a clear Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment – £52.
The main responsibilities within this role will be to assist the Class Teacher with supporting pupils in a Year 5 class. You will be responsible for providing additional 1:1 support to a pupil within the class, who has challenging behaviour. You will be tasked with encouraging the pupil to engage in learning where possible, as well as escorting them on movement breaks during lessons, if they happen to become heightened or lose concentration. You will need to liaise with the Class Teacher, Parents/Carers and the SENCO, to provide feedback on the pupils academic and behavioural progress and to ensure the learner is receiving the necessary support.
