Behaviour Mentor

Ortus Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join our partnered Primary School located in the vibrant community of Brixton. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment while empowering students to overcome challenges and succeed academically and socially. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Responsibilities:
- Build strong relationships with students, providing them with emotional support and guidance to develop positive behaviour patterns
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and other professionals to create individualized behaviour management plans
- Implement strategies and interventions to address behavioural issues, supporting students to make positive choices and engage effectively in their learning
- Provide group and one-on-one mentoring sessions to help students develop essential social and emotional skills
- Promote a safe and respectful learning environment by effectively managing conflicts and resolving behavioural incidents
- Monitor and track students’ progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents on behavioural improvements and areas for further development
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor or in a similar role, preferably within a primary school setting
- Strong understanding of child development, behaviour management strategies, and restorative approaches
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, teachers, and parents in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner
- Empathy and patience to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of emotional and behavioural needs
- Proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving, with the ability to think creatively and implement effective interventions
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in behaviour management or counselling are advantageous
