SEN Teaching Assistant

A primary school based in Wallington is looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant with experience of supporting children with Autism, SEMH or challenging behaviour for a September 2023 start. The school was recognised by Ofsted in their last inspection as Good’ in all aspects. This role offers the ability to inspire and support learning for life and provides a caring and supportive community for all staff.
Responsibilities:
·To provide 1:1 support to learners with Autism and/or challenging behaviours.
·Helping to assist pupils adjusting to their new settings, recognise signs of distress and offer reassurance to promote and encourage inclusion of all pupils within the classroom and school.
·To supervise and support students to ensure their safety and access to learning and facilitating pupil’s physical, emotional, and educational development to an excellent standard.
Your skills and experience:
·Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, working with children who have Autism and/or experience of de-escalating challenging behaviour.
·Emotional intelligence and resilience with the ability to react calmly in challenging situations.
·An honest, reliable, and excellent communicator.
·Dedication to SEND and safeguarding practices in order to promote the welfare of children.
·A passion for working with children with additional needs.
