Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant with a Level 5 qualification and expertise in working with students with autism. This role will involve supporting a student in Year 6 with ASD 1 to 1 for a limited amount of time during the school day, then supporting the year 6 class generally for the remainder of the day. This role is a full-time position and will be an immediate start. If you have a Level 5 Teaching Assistant qualification and experience with ASD, this is an amazing opportunity to secure a new role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support for Student with Autism: Provide tailored support and interventions to students with autism, ensuring their individual needs are met for a successful learning experience.
- Classroom Assistance: Collaborate with teachers to assist in planning and implementing effective classroom strategies to enhance the learning experience of all students.
- Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Contribute to the development and implementation of IEPs for the year 6 child with autism, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as needed.
- Behavioural Support: Implement behaviour management techniques to foster positive behaviours and create a conducive learning environment.
- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, guardians, and the school’s special education team to ensure the best possible support for students with autism.
- Inclusion: Promote inclusivity and acceptance within the school community, fostering a welcoming environment for students with autism.
Qualifications:
- Level 5 Teaching Assistant Qualification: Candidates must hold a Level 5 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Experience with Autism: Demonstrated experience working with students with autism, with a deep understanding of their needs and effective strategies.
- Immediate Availability: Candidates must be available for an immediate start and have no leaving notice with their current employer.
- Team Player: Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and other professionals.
- Empathy and Patience: A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
- DBS Check: A valid enhanced Child Workforce DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is required.
