SEN Teaching Assistant | SEN School | Wembley

Our team at Ortus Recruitment are dedicated to securing high-quality educators with long-term and full-time roles within Ofsted rated ‘Good‘ and ‘Outstanding‘ schools in their local area. We are currently looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to provide support in our client primary school in Wembley.

The ideal candidate for this role will have prior experience of supporting SEN children and most importantly a passion for it. You will need to be able to build positive rapports with the children, provide an inclusive and safe environment for them to learn and effectively communicate with staff members, external practitioners and parents/carers. You will need to work on a 1:1 basis with SEN children in the school’s ARP as well as leading interventions in small groups to raise attainment. It is important to be patient and empathetic in order to build successful and positive rapports with the students.

Without the help and support of these educators, many of the most vulnerable students would fall behind in learning. You will be aided by a lovely and supportive Senior Leadership Team, who will always be on hand. As well as this, the school offer CPD courses and training when necessary to help further your career and for those deemed most suitable, there is the opportunity to be placed on the school’s Teacher Training Programme.

What will you do?

  • Prepare learning materials
  • Support on a 1:1 basis with SEN students
  • Lead subject interventions
  • Adapt teaching support according to student’s needs
  • Look after children’s physical, social and emotional welfare
  • Create an interesting environment for students
  • Keep records and attend review meetings
  • Work with professionals such as speech and language therapists
