The Job Information:

· Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

· Pay: £90 – £100 per day, PAYE – No hidden agency/umbrella company fees

· Location: Lewisham, Brockley

· Role: Full time, Long term, Monday – Friday (08:30 – 16:00)

Here at Ortus Recruitment we are working with a Specialist SEN Provision, located in the heart of Brockley. The school support pupils ADHD, ASD, MLD, SEMH, SLD and challenging behaviour. We are seeking someone who has experience working alongside pupils with Special Educational Needs, ideally in a school setting, but transferrable skills and experiences will be welcomed (care, residential, school or social settings).

The main responsibilities within this role are to assist the Class Teacher with supporting pupils in a KS2 class, mixed with pupils from Year 4 – ear 6. The pupils you will be supporting will mainly have challenging behaviour, but you may be asked to support other learners with other needs. You will be required to assist the Class Teacher with behaviour management and encourage the pupils to engage in learning where possible. You will be tasked with escorting the pupils to lessons, therapy sessions and enrichment activities, encouraging calm behaviour whilst walking in the corridor. You will need to liaise with the in school professionals (Occupational therapist, speech and language therapist, SENCO) to ensure the pupil is following their EHCP plan and are receiving the necessary support needed.

The requirements:

· You must have experience supporting SEN children and/or adults, experience supporting vulnerable adults/young people in a care, residential, school or social setting

· You need to be able to start immediately and commit to full time, long term work

· You need to be able to easily build a positive rapport with both pupils and staff

· You need to be confident and able to support learners 1:1 and in small groups

· You must be able to think quick on your feet and be able to adapt to stressful situations

· You need to be passionate about working with children and dedicated to aiding their academic and behavioural development

· You will need to have TWO childcare relevant references

· You must have a clear Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment – £52
