ORTUS RECRUITMENT are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to join our team. You will be supporting students with challenging behaviour in our supportive and nurturing school environment.

This is an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ SEN school located in Hayes – the area has good transport links, with Hayes & Harlington Station located in the town centre providing access to London Paddington and Heathrow Airport. Hayes is a great place to work, offering a diverse range of amenities, attractions, and transport links.

You must have excellent interpersonal skills, a calm and patient manner, and the ability to work in a team. You will be working with the class teacher to support students with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. You will be responsible for providing an inspirational learning environment, monitoring behaviour and helping to build positive relationships between pupils and staff.

You will be working on a 1:1 basis with a child that shows characteristics of ASD as well as needing support with social, emotional and mental health needs.

Role summary:

• Supporting children presenting SEN, behavioural needs and SEMH needs
• Knowledge and experience using de-escalation strategies
• Understanding of social, emotional, and mental health issues
• Must be patient, resilient and have a firm but fair approach
• Ability to enforce boundaries and stay consistent
• Will be supported by another Learning Support Assistant
• Prior experience dealing with severe behavioural needs and supporting SEN children
