Ortus are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with speech, language, and communication needs. This rewarding role offers an immediate start and will continue until the end of the academic year in July 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Work 1:1 with a Year 1 pupil, providing support for speech, language, and communication needs.
• Assist the pupil within the classroom environment and occasionally provide focused attention in a quieter setting.
• Build a positive rapport with the pupil, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
• Address any challenging behaviour by employing effective strategies and maintaining a calm and patient approach.
• Collaborate with school staff to contribute to the pupil’s social and academic development.
• Embrace the highs and lows of working with children, making a significant impact on the pupil’s overall well-being.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Compassionate graduate with a genuine love for education.
• Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to the unique challenges of supporting a pupil with speech, language, and communication needs.
• Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
