Our client school in Whetstone is seeking a Behaviour Mentor to join their supportive team to support children with behavioural difficulties. The role is long-term with the potential to be offered a permanent position with the school if deemed the ideal candidate.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide support and guidance to a boy in Year 5 who is working at a Year 1 level. You will work to identify and address the underlying causes of their behaviour which stems from anxiety, and aid him in developing positive coping strategies. You will need to establish boundaries and have a firm but fair approach. It is important to note he can be aggressive when he gets angry, therefore this role requires someone with adept behaviour management experience.
Candidate Specification:
- Experience as a behaviour mentor, sports coach, learning support assistant and/or youth worker
- Strong and effective behaviour management
- Excellent communication skills
- Resilient, empathetic and assertive nature
