As a teaching assistant, you will play a pivotal role in embodying these principles and ensuring the holistic development of our students.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Support for Pupils:

  • Assist students in making academic progress, guided by the teacher and Inclusion Leader.
  • Foster high expectations and promote self-esteem and independence among students.
  • Provide group or 1:1 interventions to support students facing emotional or social barriers to learning.
  • Build positive relationships with students, acting as a role model and setting high standards.
  • Champion inclusion and acceptance within the school community.
  • Offer feedback to students on their progress and achievements, following teacher guidance.
  • Attend to students’ personal needs and implement related personal programs, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters.
  • Understand and assist in implementing Individual Education Plans & Behaviour Support Plans, under the teacher’s guidance.

Support for Teachers:

  • Maintain a purposeful, orderly, and supportive learning environment in line with lesson plans.
  • Utilize strategies, as directed by the teacher, to support students in achieving learning goals.
  • Collaborate with teachers to organize learning activities and determine your support role.

Qualifications Required:

Essential:

  • Good literacy skills – GCSE Grade C or above in English Language; Level 2 English or above; or equivalent.
  • Good numeracy skills – GCSE Grade C or above in Maths; Level 2 Maths or above; or equivalent.

Desirable:

  • An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent.
