The role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Classroom Assistant to join our team in the London Borough of Brent. As a SEN Classroom Assistant, you will work closely with students with Special Educational Needs providing support and assistance in an educational setting. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and contribute to their growth and development.

Duties:
– Assist the classroom teacher in implementing educational programs for students with autism and special needs
– Provide one-on-one support to students, helping them with daily activities and tasks
– Create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
– Collaborate with the class teacher and other classroom staff to develop and implement EHC Plans
– Support students in developing social skills, communication skills, and independence
– Assist with classroom management, including behaviour management strategies

Skills:
– Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs
– Knowledge of interventions and strategies to implement for SEN children
– Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
– Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with children who may have challenging behaviours or communication difficulties
– Strong organisational skills to assist in preparing materials and maintaining an organised classroom environment
– Ability to take initiative
