ORTUS RECRUITMENT are seeking a highly motivated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant  to join our lovely and successful Mainstream Primary School located in Bellingham to work 1:1 with an Autistic pupil in year 2.

Main responsibilities:

• Supporting an Autistic pupil 1:1 in the class and around the school building
• Working alongside the class teacher to prepare differentiated work that suits the learners need  
• Taking the pupil to sensory and therapy sessions with expert therapists and helping the therapist maintain calm behaviour
• Supervising the pupil in the lunch hall and the playground
• Helping the child to engage in work and improving their attitude to learning

Requirements:

• Must be available Full time, Long term. Monday – Friday 08:30 – 16:00
• Must have an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment (£52)
• Have a basic understanding of the SEND requirements of pupils with Autism
• Ability to build a positive rapport with pupil and staff
• Good Literacy, Math and Reading skills
• Knowledge of the safeguarding policies
