1:1 EYFS Teaching Assistant
Ortus Recruitment is thrilled to partner with a mainstream primary school based in Southfields, who seek a passionate and dedicated 1:1 EYFS Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEN. This full-time, long-term role starts after the Easter break and offers the opportunity to work in a supportive and dynamic environment, assisting a child with Special Educational Needs (SEND) in the Nursery/Reception. Role Overview:
As a 1:1 EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to a child with SEND in the Nursery. Working closely with the class teacher and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo), you will assist in the development and education of the pupil, ensuring they receive the guidance and care they need to thrive in the EYFS setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support for a child in the Nursery with Special Educational Needs.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to develop and implement individual learning plans.
- Support the child with their emotional, social, and academic development within the EYFS framework.
- Assist in the planning and preparation of lessons and activities, tailored to the child’s specific needs.
- Foster a positive, nurturing environment that promotes independence and confidence.
- Communicate effectively with the class teacher, SENCo, and other team members to ensure the child’s progress.
What We Are Looking For:
- EYFS or Early Years Qualifications are essential for this role.
- Previous experience working with EYFS children is highly recommended, especially experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
- A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children with SEND.
- The ability to work well within a team, but also confidently take the initiative when required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with both children and staff.
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
