1:1 Learning Support Assistant
Ortus Recruitment is excited to present a unique opportunity for a compassionate and motivated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant three-form entry primary school in Southfields. This role is focused on providing tailored support to children with neurodiverse profiles, including those with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them thrive in both mainstream classroom settings and quieter learning environments.
As a 1:1 LSA, you will work closely with class teachers and the school’s SEND team to offer individualized support that meets the specific needs of neurodiverse pupils. Your role will involve assisting students both within the classroom and in a dedicated quiet space, ensuring they are fully engaged and able to access learning in a way that suits their needs. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to neurodiverse children, including those with ASC, across different learning environments
- Collaborate with class teachers to ensure that individual learning strategies are effectively implemented
- Help foster a positive, inclusive environment where every child feels supported
- Adapt resources and activities to meet the needs of neurodiverse students
- Encourage independence and promote the child’s social and emotional development
Candidate Requirements:
- Passion for supporting neurodiverse learners and ensuring they can access mainstream education
- Ideally, qualified to at least NVQ Level 2/NNEB or equivalent
- Previous experience working with children with neurodiverse profiles, particularly ASC
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude towards overcoming challenges
