1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Ortus Recruitment is partnering with a well-established primary school in Southfields to find a highly motivated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs, ensuring their individual academic and personal development is fully supported.
  • Assist in the delivery of tailored learning plans and interventions to facilitate the pupil’s progress.
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor and assess the child’s development and adjust support strategies as needed.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that encourages the pupil’s participation and independence.
  • Support the pupil during extracurricular activities and ensure their well-being is prioritized throughout the school day.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in supporting children with SEN is advantageous, though not a strict requirement.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills to provide academic support.
  • An NVQ Level 2/3 in Education or a related field would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • A first aid certificate is desirable, although not mandatory.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with children with additional needs.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and ensuring all children have the opportunity to succeed.
