Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Feltham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to make a significant impact on the educational journey of an individual student.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met.
- Assist in the development and implementation of personalized learning programs and strategies to support the child’s progress.
- Work closely with the classroom teacher and SENCO to monitor and assess the child’s progress, adjusting support as necessary.
- Use specialized resources and equipment where required to help the child engage with the curriculum.
- Support the student with their academic work as well as social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively, fostering a positive learning environment.
- Assist in maintaining the child’s focus and engagement in class and during individual learning activities.
- Provide feedback to parents and staff on the child’s progress and development.
- Maintain records of interventions, progress, and outcomes for the student.
- Collaborate with other professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists to support the child’s development.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in an SEN setting.
- Experience working 1:1 with children with a range of special needs, such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SLCN, SEMH, or other learning difficulties.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students with SEN.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build a positive rapport with the student, staff, and parents.
- Ability to use initiative and adapt to the changing needs of the child.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
