Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School
Location: Croydon, Greater London
Job Type: Full-time / Term-time only
Salary: £89–£100 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role:
A caring and committed primary school in Croydon is looking for a compassionate and proactive 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This rewarding role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of SEN, particularly autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, or speech and language needs.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to ensure the pupil receives tailored support and makes progress both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with diagnosed or emerging SEN
• Assist in developing and implementing individual learning plans (EHCPs)
• Help the pupil engage with classroom tasks and manage their behaviour positively
• Use a range of strategies and tools to aid communication and understanding
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to the SENCO and class teacher
• Encourage social interaction and support inclusion in classroom and play activities
• Foster a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment

Requirements:

• Experience supporting children with SEN in a school or childcare setting
• Knowledge of common SEN needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language difficulties
• A calm, patient, and empathetic nature
• Excellent communication skills and a team-player mentality
• Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
