Ortus Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and proactive 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide support for a child with Autism who displays challenging behaviour, in our partnered mainstream primary school based in Streatham (London Borough of Lambeth).

This is a full-time, long-term role (Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm) and requires commitment for the full academic year.

About the role:

You will work closely with the child on a 1:1 basis, helping them with their academic, social, and emotional development. The ideal candidate will be firm but empathetic, understanding the need to balance structure with encouragement.

In addition to 1:1 support, you will also assist with classroom management, help maintain an organised learning environment, and lead small group interventions to support other pupils in the provision.

This position is perfect for someone with previous experience in behaviour management or mentoring, particularly in a school setting.

Key Requirements:

• Strong classroom behaviour management skills
• Experience working with children with Autism or SEN
• Able to provide: an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply through Ortus Recruitment), proof of Right to Work in the UK, and 2 references
