Ortus Recruitment is delighted to be working with a welcoming, inclusive mainstream primary school located just minutes from the iconic Oval Cricket Ground. The school is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil with a hearing impairment and an EHCP, on a full-time basis until the end of the academic year. Our partnered school is part of a supportive trust focused on nurturing curiosity, confidence, and creativity. In this rewarding role, you will:

• Provide consistent, 1:1 classroom support for a child with a hearing impairment.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt resources and support plans.
• Use strategies and tools, including BSL (Level 1 or above), to enhance communication and understanding.
• Promote independence, engagement and a positive attitude to learning.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who:

• Is passionate about inclusive education and SEN support
• Has experience working with children with hearing impairments
• Holds BSL Level 1 (minimum)
• Is patient, proactive, and committed to supporting individual progress

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
• Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools (or equivalent)
• Prior experience working in a primary setting in a 1:1 or SEN support role
• A-Levels are desirable
