1:1 Teaching Assistant – Year 2 (ASC) & Year 4 (ASC + Academic Support)

Pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE – No umbrella companies)
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only

Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a warm, inclusive mainstream primary school in Stonebridge, Brent, to appoint two experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and academic challenges. This is a long-term opportunity to start in September 2025, offering rewarding and hands-on experience with children who need consistency, structure, and tailored support.

The school is located in the heart of Stonebridge, a culturally rich area in the borough of Brent with excellent transport links including the Jubilee Line and London Overground. The school itself is well-resourced, with a strong SEN team and a leadership group fully committed to inclusive education.

About the Roles:

Role 1 – Year 2 (KS1): 1:1 ASC Support
You will support a pupil with autism who benefits from routine, visual supports, and one-to-one engagement. Your role will be to keep them emotionally regulated, focused, and positively involved in learning.

Role 2 – Year 4 (KS2): 1:1 ASC & Academic Support
You will work with a child who has autism and is working below expected academic levels. You will provide academic scaffolding, break tasks down, and help the pupil stay motivated and settled in class.

Who Should Apply?

  • You must have at least 3–6 months of continuous, hands-on experience working with SEN children, ideally within a school, nursery, or specialist setting
  • This role suits graduates, TAs, youth mentors, sports coaches, or those with a background in behaviour support
  • The school welcomes applications from male candidates, particularly those with experience mentoring or supporting young people
  • You should be confident using your common sense and initiative in challenging situations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 tailored support based on the pupil’s needs and EHCP
  • Adapt lessons and learning activities to suit ability levels
  • Help with social communication, emotional regulation, and classroom engagement
  • Liaise with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Keep consistent records and track progress against targets

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience supporting children with Autism (ASC), learning difficulties, or behavioural needs
  • Calm, proactive, and reliable
  • Able to commit to a full-time role for the academic year
  • Familiar with strategies like PECS, visual timetables, or sensory regulation (advantageous, but not essential)
