The school is searching for someone who has had experience working with children with special educational needs, especially mild autism. The individual applying for this role needs to be enthusiastic and able to create exciting learning activities for the students, where they are able to understand the content but also stay engaged throughout the course of the day. You will be working one to one with a student from a year 2 class, who has mild autism. The role will include supporting this student with their numeracy and literacy skills, keeping record of their progress, and highlighting the areas they have difficulties with. This student has trouble focusing for a long period of time, therefore you will need to have the ability to introduce various ways of teaching, that they find exciting and easy to understand. Furthermore, you will be supporting them not only in the classroom, but at break and lunch as well, ensuring their emotional, physical and social needs are met.
