About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join a vibrant and inclusive school in Ealing. The successful candidate will work closely with students, teachers, and support staff to provide tailored interventions and guidance, aiming to improve student behaviour and emotional well-being. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning, particularly those with SEN (Special Educational Needs) or challenging behaviours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and mentor students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Work 1:1 or in small groups to address behavioural and emotional difficulties.
- Develop and implement individualized support plans and strategies.
- Assist in improving attendance, engagement, and overall academic performance.
- Promote positive behaviour through encouragement and setting clear boundaries.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and the wider pastoral team to provide cohesive support.
- Provide de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques when necessary.
- Monitor and track student progress, maintaining detailed records and reports.
- Offer emotional support and build trusting relationships with students to foster a safe learning environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with challenging behaviours, SEMH, or SEN is essential.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for improving student outcomes and resilience.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
- Relevant qualifications in Childcare, Education, Psychology, or similar disciplines (desirable).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in restorative practices or therapeutic interventions.
- Previous experience in primary or secondary school settings.
- A working understanding of the UK education system and SEND frameworks.
