An outstanding primary school in Highgate, Camden is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Behaviour Mentor to work one-on-one with a Year 6 pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Behaviour Mentor Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one tailored support for a Year 6 pupil with SEMH needs.
  • Implement strategies to support the pupil’s emotional regulation, social skills, and academic engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to develop and follow an individualised education plan (IEP).
  • Assist in maintaining a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Be a positive role model, helping the child build confidence and self-esteem.
  • Support the pupil during transitions and other potentially challenging parts of the school day.

Behaviour Mentor Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs (e.g. in a mentoring, teaching assistant, or similar capacity).
  • A compassionate, patient, and resilient nature.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with the child and their support network.
  • The ability to remain calm and solution-focused in challenging situations.
  • A commitment to promoting positive behaviour strategies and fostering emotional well-being.
