About the Role:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive primary or secondary school in the Hounslow (TW5) area. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, supporting them to manage their behaviour, re-engage with learning, and develop positive coping strategies. You’ll collaborate with teaching staff, SEN teams, and external agencies to help each pupil reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring for students with behavioural challenges
- Support students in regulating emotions and developing social skills
- Implement behaviour intervention plans under guidance from the SENCO or Behaviour Lead
- Encourage and promote positive behaviour in and out of the classroom
- Build trusting relationships with students to support emotional wellbeing and engagement
- Work with parents/carers and multi-agency teams as required
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews of progress
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour (in a school or similar setting)
- Strong communication, patience, and empathy
- Ability to de-escalate situations calmly and confidently
- A passion for supporting young people’s development
- A Team Teach certificate is desirable but not essential
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
