Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a specialist school in Kennington, seeking a skilled Behaviour Mentor to join their dedicated and nurturing team. The school provides a safe, inclusive environment for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs , focusing on helping each student reach their potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with challenging behaviour and additional needs
- Help pupils develop strategies to manage their emotions and behaviour effectively
- Build positive, trusting relationships to promote engagement and self-esteem
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to deliver individualised support plans
- Encourage personal growth, resilience, and improved participation in classroom learning
This is a full-time, long-term position, offering an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
- Experienced in supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or challenging behaviour
- Empathetic, patient, and resilient with a calm approach to de-escalating situations
- A strong communicator who can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ideally degree-qualified or holding a relevant TA or behaviour management qualification
- Experienced in areas such as Youth Work, Counselling, Psychology, or Sports Coaching (advantageous but not essential)
