Here at Ortus Recruitment we are recruiting for an experienced Behaviour Mentor to join one of our Pupil Referral Units located in the London Borough of Southwark, Peckham Rye. The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing challenging behaviour either hands on, or qualifications through CPD Courses. This school is a mixed primary and secondary school with pupils from KS2 up to KS4 who have special educational needs. The school is Ofsted rated ‘Good’ and has managed to maintain that over the years through an amazing working relationship amongst staff and a diverse and inclusive working environment for pupils.

The Job Information:

• Position: Behaviour Mentor  
• Pay: £95 – £105 per day – PAYE – No hidden agency/umbrella company fees
• Location: Southwark, Peckham Rye
• Role: Full time, Long term – Monday – Friday (08:30 – 16:00)

The ideal candidate for this role will:

• Have experience working alongside children and young people with Special Educational Needs
• Have experience or qualifications in managing challenging behaviour
• Will be passionate about working alongside children and dedicated to aiding their development academically and behaviourally
• Be able to easily build a positive rapport with both staff and students
• Will be patient and resilient
• HAVE TWO OBTAINABLE CHILDCARE RELEVANT REFERENCES
• HAVE A CLEAR ENHANCED DBS ON THE UPDATE SERVICE OR BE WILLING TO PROCESS ONE THROUGH ORTUS RECRUITMENT – £52

The main responsibilities:

• Within this role you will be required to work 1:1 with a pupil in year 7 with challenging behaviour
• You will be required to supervise this pupil in the classroom and around the school building helping to maintain calm behaviour
• You will need to liaise with the Class Teacher and SENCO to ensure the pupil is receiving the necessary support and is making positive progress
• You will be responsible for encouraging the pupil to engage in learning where possible
• You will need to follow the schools safeguarding and behaviour policies
