Here at ORTUS RECRUITMENT we are seeking a Behaviour Mentor to join one of our Specialist Provisions working alongside SEMH pupils in Year 4 – Year 6.

The Job Role:

• Position: Behaviour Mentor
• Pay: £90 – £100 per day, PAYE – No hidden Agency/Umbrella company fees
• Location: Lewisham, Brockley
• Role: Full time, Long term (Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:00)

The Specialist Provision we are working alongside are looking for someone to join their amazing staff team and help to ensure the pupils are getting the necessary support. This provision is Ofsted rated ‘Good’ and are looking to maintain, if not improve on that rating in the coming years. We are looking for someone who will  be able to maintain the positive working environment amongst staff and build positive rapports with the pupils.

The ideal candidate:

• Will have experience managing challenging behaviour in a care, residential, school or social setting (coaching/party hosting)
• Will have experience working alongside children with special educational needs or and/or vulnerable adults/young people
• Will be passionate about working alongside children and dedicated to helping them develop life skills
• Will have a natural kind and nurturing nature, as well as patience and resilience
• Will be able to follow instructions effectively but also be able to work off of your own initiative
• Will have a strong academic background, educated to degree level or equivalent (desired, not essential)
• Will have two obtainable childcare relevant references
• Will have a clear Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment – £52

Main responsibilities within this role:

• You will be required to assist the Class Teacher in supporting a KS2 class consisting of children in Year 4 – Year 6
• To help maintain good behaviour in class and around the school building as well as ensure the pupils are engaged with learning
• You will be required to supervise the pupils during their therapy sessions and help them to maintain concentration
• You will be responsible for taking pupils on movement breaks during lessons when they need to regain concentration
• You will be responsible for supervising the pupils during enrichment activities or on school trips
• You will need to liaise with the Class Teacher, SENCO and Parents/Carers in order to ensure pupils are on the right track and are receiving the necessary support
• You will be responsible for safeguarding pupils and ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times
