We are currently seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to join a lovely primary school nestled in the heart of Waterloo. You’ll be providing invaluable support to a Year 5 pupil facing behavioural challenges and ADHD, helping them thrive in their educational journey.

Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored support to the pupil on a 1:1 basis, ensuring they receive the attention and guidance they need.
• Cultivate a positive and inclusive learning environment that inspires the pupil to actively engage with their education.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and execute an individualised behaviour plan tailored to the pupil’s needs.
• Assist in fostering social skills and effective emotion management, empowering the pupil to navigate challenges confidently.
• Build and maintain a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil, prioritising their well-being and fostering a sense of security.
• Monitor and document pupil progress, offering insightful feedback to teaching staff and relevant stakeholders.
• Foster open communication and collaboration with parents/guardians, external agencies, and the wider school community to ensure comprehensive support for the pupil.

Requirements:

• Prior experience working with pupils exhibiting challenging behaviour or those excluded from mainstream schools is advantageous.
• Possess a solid understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Demonstrated patience, empathy, and resilience when working with pupils facing emotional and behavioural hurdles.
• Flexibility and adaptability to effectively meet the diverse needs of pupils.
• A steadfast commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
