Challenging Behaviour Assistant

A mainstream primary school based in the heart of Brixton is seeking a Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with challenging behaviour. Our partnered school is a ‘GOOD’ OFSTED rated school with outstanding features and a supportive leadership team. This is an amazing opportunity for candidates with experience supporting children in a sports-based environment or recent graduates with experience working with children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children with challenging behaviour in a classroom and sports-based environment.
  • Foster a positive learning atmosphere by promoting engagement and focus.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to implement tailored strategies to support individual student needs.
  • Provide support for children during break times, lunch periods, and other school activities.
  • Help in developing and monitoring individual learning plans for students with behavioural challenges.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children, particularly those with challenging behaviour, is essential.
  • A background in sports, youth work, or similar areas is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children.
  • Ability to work well within a team and take direction from the leadership team and teachers.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with children facing behavioural challenges.
  • A relevant qualification in education or psychology is preferred but not essential.
