About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Croydon. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils’ learning and development in a nurturing environment that values teamwork, creativity, and child-centred practice.

The successful candidate will work closely with classroom teachers and the SEN team to support pupils across Key Stage 1 and/or Key Stage 2, including those with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
• Working one-to-one or in small groups with pupils to reinforce learning objectives
• Assisting with classroom management and behaviour support
• Helping to prepare learning materials and classroom displays
• Supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) or English as an Additional Language (EAL), where needed
• Encouraging a positive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

• Experience working with children in a school or educational setting (voluntary or paid)
• A patient, caring, and proactive attitude
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and well-being
• Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths or equivalent required)
• An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable (but not essential)

• Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate
• Experience supporting children with SEN (e.g., autism, ADHD, speech and language needs)
