Here at Ortus Recruitment we are seeking an experienced Classroom Assistant to work alongside the Class Teacher in a role as a General Teaching Assistant/Classroom Assistant in a Year 5 class. The school is located in the London Borough of Southwark, Walworth. The school is located next to a popular London Underground Station and surrounded by bus stops. The school is Ofsted rated ‘Good’ and are looking for someone to come in and hit the ground running by easily building positive rapports with staff and pupils.

The Job Summary:

• Pay: £400 – £450 p/w, PAYE – No hidden agency/umbrella company fees
• Role: Full time, Long term, Monday – Friday (08:30 – 16:00)

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Working as part of the Teaching & Learning Support team, you will  

• Work under the guidance of the class teacher to support the management and organisation of teaching and learning in the classroom (form group based)
• Assist the teacher in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment 
• Promote the inclusion of all pupils ensuring they have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop 
• Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school 
• Contribute to the personal and academic progress of all students to enable them to become independent learners and help to raise the standards of achievement for all students.  

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: 

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above. 
• Empathy and understanding of students needs 
• Ability to maintain a professional manner in challenging situations.  
• Experience of planning and leading teaching and learning activities (desirable) 
• A proven ability to work on their own initiative. 
• A high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adults. 
• The ability to use relevant technology/equipment. 
• A ‘can-do’ attitude. 
• A commitment to the happiness well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school
