Ortus Recruitment are seeking an experienced SEN classroom assistant to work in one of our Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ primary academies located in the heart of Peckham.

The role:

• Location: Queens Road Peckham,
• Position: SEN Classroom Assistant
• Pay: £80 – £100 per day, PAYE
• Role: Full time, Long term

Within this role the candidate will be required to work alongside SEN learners in a year 4 class. You will work alongside the class teacher and other support staff members to differentiate work to suit the learners needs, as well as helping learners develop academic, emotional and social skills through games and activities. Alongside other staff members, you will be responsible for supervising learners in the lunch hall, in the playground and around the building when they require a movement break. You will need to be bubbly, confident and eager to make a positive impact in the learners lives.

The ideal candidate will need to have experience working with children, young adults or adults with special educational needs either in a school based or care/support worker setting. Transferrable skills will be considered, but the school is looking for someone with the ability to hit the ground running in this rewarding long term role. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and will be confident with working 1:1 and in small groups to help raise learners attainment in core subjects.

The school is in close proximity to Queens Road Peckham Station, Peckham Rye station and Nunhead station so it is easy to commute to and from the school by popular transport links including busses and trams.
