Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant | ASD, SLD, Down Syndrome | SEN Provision
Here at Ortus Recruitment we are seeking an Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our Brand New Clients, a SEN mixed Primary and Secondary School. This school has learners with a range of different special educational needs, but the ideal candidate will be assisting the Class Teacher in supporting a KS2, resource based SEN class with 8 children who have ASD, SLD and Down Syndrome.
The Job Information:
- Position: Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant – ASD, SLD, Down Syndrome
- Pay: £90 – £100 per day, PAYE – No hidden agency/umbrella company fees
- Location: Lewisham, Forest Hill
- Role: Full time, Long term (Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:00)
The ideal candidate for this role will need SEN experience in either a care, residential, school or social setting, we will also accept candidates with transferrable skills, so experience working with vulnerable adults/young people. The school are seeking someone who is patient, resilient and able to easily build a positive rapport with both pupils and staff. The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about working alongside children and dedicated to helping them develop academically, emotionally and socially. We are seeking someone who can confidently work 1:1 and in small groups with the learners to help them develop individually.
Within this role, you will be required to work alongside the Class Teacher and support a KS2 resource based SEN class. You will be required to assist them with activities and tasks given to them by the Class Teacher as well as supervising them in class and around the school building. You will be required to escort the pupils to therapy sessions within the school and enrichment activities, these include an indoor jungle gym, gaming room and art therapy room. You will need to liaise with the Class Teacher, professionals (therapists), the SENCO and the Parents/Carers in order to ensure the pupils are receiving the necessary support and provide feedback and pupil professional.
