Ortus Recruitment are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic EYFS Classroom Assistant to join one of our welcoming partner primary schools in Southwark. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and has a strong understanding of the EYFS framework.

We are specifically looking for candidates who hold a Level 3 EYFS qualification (or equivalent), with experience supporting children in a nursery or primary school setting.

Role Overview

As an EYFS Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children’s early development, working closely with the class teacher and wider school team. Your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities:

👩‍🏫 Teaching Support
• Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning activities
• Provide constructive feedback on pupil progress

👧 Child Support
• Offer 1:1 and small group support to children across the EYFS
• Assist children with additional needs, including SEN, ensuring tailored support and inclusive practice

🏫 Classroom Preparation
• Help set up learning resources and maintain a tidy and stimulating learning environment

🗂️ Administrative Support
• Carry out tasks such as photocopying, filing, updating displays, and preparing materials

🤝 Parent Engagement
• Build positive relationships with parents and carers
• Assist in communicating children’s progress and developmental needs

🛡 Health, Safety & Wellbeing
• Ensure a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment at all times
• Monitor equipment safety and follow safeguarding procedures

🍎 Lunchtime & Play Support
• Supervise and support children during lunch and playtime activities

Requirements:

✔ Level 3 EYFS Qualification (Essential)
✔ Experience working with children in a classroom or nursery setting
✔ Previous face-to-face experience supporting SEN pupils
✔ A warm, patient and dedicated approach to supporting young learners
✔ Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
✔ Passion for early years education and children’s emotional, social and mental wellbeing
