Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and well-regarded mainstream primary school in Brixton. The school is seeking a Level 3 qualified EYFS Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team on a full-time, long-term basis, starting immediately. You will be working closely with the class teacher and EYFS lead to support pupils during this vital stage of development, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment. This role is ideal for an experienced Early Years practitioner who is confident supporting children in Nursery or Reception, and who brings a nurturing, hands-on approach to early learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support children’s learning through structured and child-led play
• Work with small groups and on a 1:1 basis to support early phonics, language, and number skills
• Promote children’s social, emotional, and personal development
• Assist with observations and contribute to assessments and learning records
• Support daily routines, including personal care where required
• Provide additional support for pupils with SEN or emerging needs
• Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive EYFS setting

Requirements

• Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Teaching & Learning (essential)
• Previous experience working within EYFS (Nursery or Reception)
• Good working knowledge of the EYFS framework
• Confident supporting children aged 3–5
• Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
• Available to work full-time, Monday to Friday
