EYFS Teaching Assistant

Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic and nurturing team. The successful candidate will provide essential support to the class teacher and assist in creating a positive and stimulating learning environment for children aged 3-5 years. This role is pivotal in fostering children’s development, helping them to grow academically, socially, and emotionally in their early years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS curriculum.
- Work 1:1 or with small groups of children to provide targeted support and interventions.
- Assist in the observation, assessment, and recording of children’s progress, ensuring their individual needs are met.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Promote positive behaviour, encouraging social skills and emotional development.
- Prepare learning resources and ensure the classroom is organized and ready for daily activities.
- Support children with personal care needs, ensuring their health and well-being.
- Foster strong relationships with parents and caregivers, providing feedback on their child’s progress.
- Collaborate with the wider school team to contribute to the planning and delivery of creative and interactive learning experiences.
- Promote a culture of safeguarding, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
Essential Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications in childcare or education (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent).
- Previous experience working with children in an EYFS setting.
- Knowledge of the EYFS framework and understanding of child development in the early years.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
- A commitment to the safety, safeguarding, and well-being of children.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- Experience in delivering phonics, numeracy, and literacy interventions.
